Maori taonga

 

What are taonga?

Taonga are treasures in Maori culture.  

They are anything that is highly prized or valued.  They can be objects made by a person that have a story, called artifacts, like carvings, ornaments, jewellery or pieces of art.

But they can also be a expressions of love or words that people remember.  They can be a memory or story important to someone.
